THERE WERE THREE OTHER PERFORMANCES BY EQUALLY “GOOD” FOLKS IN THE AFTERNOON. LOCAL BAND, PULLIN’ STRINGS, AND LOCAL, JOHNNY ROQUEMORE, OFFERED BLUEGRASS AND COUNTRY MUSIC. OUR OWN ORBEC MUSIC TEAMS PERFORMED GOSPEL AND PRAISE MUSIC WITH GREAT ENTHUSIASM, ALSO.
THE “MEAL INCLUDED TICKET HOLDERS” WERE TREATED TO FRESH ROASTED OYSTERS AND THE PULLED PORK OF A HOG, SMOKED BY GEORGIA BUTTS OF EATONTON BETWEEN 4:00 AND 6:00. THE HOPEWELL HOPEFULS REUNION GROUP BAKED CAKES AND BROWNIES FOR THE DESSERT OF THE MEAL. BY ALL ACCOUNTS THE FOOD WAS GOOD, AND THE FELLOWSHIP IN THE FOOD TENT WAS SPECIAL.
ALICIA WHITEHOUSE MANNED THE CAKE SILENT AUCTION TABLE FULL OF LUCIOUS OFFERINGS BY ORBEC MEMBERS. THE HAPPY WINNERS WERE ANNOUNCED AT 6:45 PM.
THE ORBEC BOARD OF SERVANTS WISHES TO THANK ALL THE ORBEC VOLUNTEERS WHO COOKED, SERVED, SOLD TICKETS, TOOK TICKETS, HELPED WITH PARKING, AND CLEANED ON THIS FUNDRAISER. THE DAY WAS LONG, BUT EVERYONE GAVE IT THEIR ALL.

March 2017 Gathering
The March Gathering of the Oconee River Basin Walk to Emmaus Community was held at Milledgeville FUMC on Friday, March 10th. There were 50 members in attendance.
Fried chicken was provided by the Lamp Lighters Reunion Group. Covered dishes and desserts were provided by the membership in attendance. The meal was delicious, as usual.
Music was provided by our wonderful ORBEC Music Team and Singers. Praise and worship music lifted up the group for the Fourth Day Speaker as well as the Clergy Response.
Jeanene Vinson gave the Fourth Day Talk. She told of how she thought she just couldn’t fit another group into her schedule, but how much her Reunion Group, the had blessed her and how close all the members had become. She also told of what serving on the ORBEC Board of Servants as well as serving the Community in other ways has meant to her. Her Fourth Days are full of service to others.
Retired Rev. Mike Cavin, the ORBEC Board Spiritual Director for 2017, gave the Clergy Response. Assisted by his wife, Rev. Janet Cavin, Mike celebrated Holy Communion for the group.
The evening ended in singing and praising the Lord for all our many blessings. If you haven’t been to a Gathering, please come and gather with us in Christian Fellowship and love.
The Gathering for April will be held at Lone Oak Baptist Church. More information will follow.

The Oconee River Basin Walk to Emmaus Community has a new Reunion Group
The “Women of God” Reunion Group is in the process of establishing mutually agreeable meeting times and dates. The Group will meet at Freedom Church in Milledgeville, GA. The contact person for the Group is currently Kathy Martin. At this time there are five members. It is such a blessing when ORBEC members come together in new Reunion Groups. The Emmaus Fourth Day principle is alive and well in the Oconee River Basin Walk to Emmaus Community. SC
