The February Gathering will be held at Walker UMC in Greensboro, GA on February 12, 2016. T There will be good food, praise music, a Fourth Day speaker, and Holy Communion will be shared by the Community in attendance.

The Fourth Day Testimony given at the February Gathering will be a departure from those given at past Gatherings. The speaker will be Priscilla Skipper, a recently released Kairos “graduate” of Lee-Arrendale State Prison. She initially attended Kairos #1 at Washington State Prison in 1996.

Ms. Skipper’s Fourth Day Testimony should be a thought-provoking and inspirational account of her life in prison after her 3 Day Kairos weekend. Dianne Gibson, who has known her for many years, has said that Ms. Skipper was courageous in her surroundings. This Testimony should give those in attendance an up close and personal account of courage in the face of eminent injury or death while sharing God’s Word.

Looking forward to seeing you Friday, February 12th

2016 Walk Team Training Begins

The first of four scheduled Walk to Emmaus Team Training sessions took place on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Milledgeville FUMC in Milledgeville, GA.  This training day is called a Board Led Training, because it is focused on informing the whole Oconee River Basin Walk to Emmaus Community.

The day began with Holy Communion, celebrated by retired Reverend Michael Stewart, assisted by retired Reverend Mike Cavin and Reverend Mike Morgan of Greensboro FUMC.

A light breakfast was provided by the Board of Servants.  There were 77 members in attendance to enjoy the meal.

After breakfast, and right on schedule,  Susie Pressley,  Community Assistant                     Lay Director and acting Secretary, officiated over the proceedings.  She introduced speakers in the order of the origins and history of the development of the Walk to Emmaus, its ecumenical foundation and just what that means, and the elements of the organization which make it a special Fourth Day experience.

After a Board provided lunch the group divided into individual teams for specific training of both Men’s and Women’s Support Teams and Conference Room Servants.   As those teams concluded their meetings the members were dismissed for the day.

This was a successful start on the journey known as to the Walk to Emmaus.  The Oconee River Basin Walk to Emmaus Community is anxious for the Walks to begin.

2015

September 11, 2015, Madison FUMC.

Fun was had by all at September’s ORBEC Gathering. The music was provided by Tom Collins and Sandy and Jim Rudolph and their sons. It was, as described by Linda Erwin, “awesome!” There were about 45 members in attendance, and there was one guest from Greensboro FUMC. The Fourth Day Talk was given by Susan Young, who attended ORBEC Walk to Emmaus #12 and is a member of Greensboro FUMC. It was very inspiring. The Reverend Grady Mosley, Pastor of Madison FUMC and Spiritual Director of ORBEC, led the membership in a reverent and enlightening Communion Celebration.                                                                                   SC

The June 2015 Gathering

This was an evening of great fellowship, meaningful worship, beautiful music and good food. We want to thank Eatonton FUMC for hosting the Gathering. There was good attendance, and everyone seemed to be blessed by the event. Jane Lang gave the Fourth Day Talk. She was eloquent and her Talk was inspirational.                                                  SC
